Why Teach?

 Why Teach?

Starting out i never knew what career path i wanted to take, there were so many options to choose from but none ever caught my eyes until the day my baby brother (Jaden) was born. With my mom trying to get back into work after having a new baby I watched him majority of the time while she was away. After watching Jaden over the course of years and watching him grow i got an interest in watching kids, so i started to babysit kids near me. As my interest kept growing i then started joining clubs and classes related to teaching for example, my school had a daycare where students were the teachers and we taught mostly threes, fours, and five year olds. I also joined a club called PALS were we went to nearby elementary/ middle schools and formed friendships with selected children. Soon after COVID happened and in the beginning i was happy because that meant no more school but then i started to realize how much i missed teaching and forming these student to teacher relationships with my students. This then lead me to working in daycares so i could have that joy back in my life of walking in my class in the mornings and seeing all those wonderful faces. So Why Teach? Because teaching brings a joy to me that i never experienced before, because i want to make a difference in my students lives, and because its something I’m really good at.

From all the experience i gathered over the years I decided that when i become a teacher i would love to teach math/science because it’s the two subjects i had the most fun in while i was in school and in my opinion are the funniest to teach. For grade level I would prefer 4th or 5th graders because when i shadowed middles schools these were the two grades I always picked so i feel more comfortable teaching them. As far as what school setting i want to teach in I haven’t yet decided but if i had to say one it’ll probably be in a urban area most likely back home in Katy,Texas.
